Happy New Year everyone!
May 2019 deliver health, wealth, happiness and super smart homes!
This years trends are Oh so maximalist! Here’s a brief outline of what’s to come this year.
Gone are the stark minimalist vibes, prepare to go bold and get ready to welcome luxury. Vibrant colour and exotic flora and fauna. Huge leaf and exotic animal prints abound across all sectors be they bedding, wallpaper, furniture or accessories there’s plenty to inspire and delight. Jewel colours, velvets, and tactile accessories complete the colourful vibe that is 2019.
Pantone colour of the year is Living Coral – a soft orangey-coral shade, very pretty and absolutely gorgeous in velvet!
To complement large soft velvet headboards there are touches of honeyed gold on bedside cabinets, tables, accessories and lighting. Mid-century chairs are making a bold strong statement in the lounge as well as being supremely comfortable. Dark kitchen units teamed with thick oak and Corrian worktops are the new show stoppers!
The theme of luxury and understated quality furnishings continues. With more people spending a greater amount of time either just at – or working from home, there’s a surge in on trend luxury goods (at all price levels) to make anyone’s home look luxurious and ‘the place to be’ Never has it been easier to stamp your own personality on your home with style, elegance and whit. Wherever you shop – from M&S, Matalan, Ralph Lauren or local artisans they’re all competing for a slice of the interiors market – there’s a strong trend towards creating unique homes rather than updating our wardrobes!
Lovers of interior tends without the pocket to replace and redecorate their homes every year are the canny breed that are able to replace accessories – cushions, throws, lampshades etc, to bring in the new seasons interior trends with minimum expenditure. Changing accessories once or twice a year can totally revitalise your home, creating a completely new vibe for just a few pounds – rather than a few hundred. These accessories may then toned up for a more uplifting lighter summery feel, and as summer fades slowly introduce darker more tactile tones and accessories for a Hugge feel.
Just because the seasons new colours are far removed from what you already have it doesn’t mean you can’t have a little – if you want? A bright splash of colour from a single velvet cushion draws the eye away from the sofa and immediately focuses attention on the luxurious fabric..and of course the colour. Upgrading a lampshade or adding a trim to an existing shade completely changes the lamp, which in turn can alter the entire atmosphere of the room. Little changes make a huge difference.
