This week saw the Scottish Interiors Show with an abundance of fabric and interiors companies. I’m delighted to say that biophillic design was represented for the first time, a vastly overlooked development in design specifically aimed at improving physical and mental well being whilst creating pleasant spaces, with proven healing and well being results. Mainly implemented in commercial sites, the majority of current projects are sadly abroad, but even the most basic principles of bringing the outdoors in – a simple houseplant, can reap benefits to your home and its occupants. Biophillic design has so many benefits to both people and the environment its been vastly overlooked and little represented so perhaps now its taking a foothold there could, fingers crossed, be more biophillic projects in the near future. Greener spaces, proven health benefits, better air quality for all – what’s not to like?
Beautiful fabrics aplenty and stunning wallpapers were proudly displayed, with digital printing being the star of the show, it appears there is little that cannot be achieved in the textile and wallpaper design business using the latest digital printing technology, available at your fingertips! There’s a company in London that will print your own designs onto fabrics for a very reasonable price – less than you’d pay for designer velvet to have your very own unique design printed to your exact requirements – so why not get creative?
This years colour for 2020 is blue – think willow pattern-inky blue, look out for everything blue appearing in home stores and designers collections throughout 2020.
Amongst our projects for 2020 we’re busy with soft furnishings, re-decoration, interior design and hopefully some exciting new sewing classes imparting skill and insider know-how enabling you to create the perfect home furnishings yourself. We’ll keep you posted with upcoming dates.
